We understand fully the concerns around protecting your no-claims status and discounts. For a small shunt we know the type of discussions people go through about whether they should claim, what’s the cost if you pay for the repairs yourselves, what do you do while your car is being repaired, what’s the cost to your subsequent premiums if you do claim, do you have to talk to your insurers anyway, will the other driver suddenly discover major injuries two days later etc.

Here’s a recent example. Sunny day, local roads, one of our clients is stationary in traffic. Vehicle bowls along behind, driver fails to brake in time, and bang….he ends up with his bumper hitting our client’s car, causing a lot of damage to the bumper. Not an ideal place to park, obviously, but no-one injured, driver very apologetic, says he has only been driving a year or so, then says he thinks he won’t go through insurance for the repairs to our client’s car. Client is unsure how to respond – what if driver is trying to trick her and would then disappear – how does she protect her situation?
Well she made the right first decision – calling us! We told her what to do and what to say to the other party, including that the accident was now notified to and recorded by us, and recommended where she could go for an insurance-approved repair quote. When the other party came back and said their damage was more extensive than first realised and they now wanted to go through their insurance, we were able to assign our Claims Department to handle everything for our client even though she was not making a claim directly herself. Our client was delighted with the service, especially because they had not realised we even had a claims department as so few brokers have them.
We managed the whole process, including the very pushy accident management people the other party’s insurers had appointed to handle their client’s claim (increasingly common these days unfortunately). We arranged the repair and the replacement car, including insurance for it. Our client was very pleased when everything was done, including a very good repair and full valeting. We took on all the hassle of getting the repair done and liaising with the other insurers, while making sure it was all noted as a ‘non-fault’ accident on the client’s insurance records.
